Whether you’re a first-timer or an experienced climber, we have something for you. Our gym offers multiple ways for youth to get involved in climbing, so you can choose the option that best fits your needs.
YOUTH CLIMBING CLASSES
Downingtown Rock Gym offers youth classes for rock climbers aged 5 years and up. If you have prior rock climbing experience or have participated in one of our other programs, then you may also be interested in our Youth Climbing Club, Advanced Climbing Club, or DRG Climbing Team programs.
YOUTH CLIMBING CLUB
Youth Climbing Club is designed for youth who have identified climbing as their “sport” of choice. It is designed to take climbers to the next level. Through the Club, the climber will work to improve their climbing ability and technique. Depending on interest and skill level, the climber may continue in the Youth Climbing Club program or shift to the Competitive DRG Climbing Team.
- AGES. 6 to 12 years old.

ADVANCED CLIMBING CLUB
The Advanced Climbing Club is geared toward climbers ages 12 to 16 who are interested recreational skill development as an alternative to the Competitive DRG Climbing Team. Climbers will meet once a week to work on skills and climb socially. The group will also participate in two (2) outdoor climbing trips to a local or semi-local climbing area. All gear and transportation provided.

What is the difference between Youth Climbing Club and Advanced Club Club?
Advanced Climbing Club is geared toward older climbers. It focuses on advanced skills and also includes outdoor climbing trips.
What is the difference between Climbing Club and Team?
Club is designed for youth who want to climb recreationally and improve their technical skills. Climbing Team is you youth who want to focus on training and competition.
Do climbers need their own equipment?
No, everything is provided during programs. Some climbers may choose to purchase and use their own gear because it is more comfortable or more advanced then rental gear.
What if my child doesn't meet the age requirement?
Age requirements are important for appropriate skill development as well as creating peer environment. You child must meet the age requirement at the start of the session they wish to attend.
